Swinney hails the core values of business

Praise on anniversary

- Staff Reporter

John Swinney has hailed the core values at the heart of a Perthshire business success story.

The Perthshire North MSP was guest of honour at a charity ball held at Perth Racecourse to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Graham Environmental Services.

The Blairgowrie-based company founded in 1993 by husband and wife team Jimmy and Anna Graham is the biggest independent pest control and hygiene company in Scotland, with a 75-strong staff.

The latest fundraising drive, designed to mark the milestone anniversary with a £25,000 target, has taken their charitable support beyond the £100,000 mark.

“The 25th anniversary of the establishment of Graham Environmental is a great opportunity to reflect on the deep foundations of the company and its successful growth over the years,” Mr Swinney told guests.

“Graham Environmental is a credit to its founders, Anna and Jimmy, to its directors, its staff, Perthshire and to Scotland.

“The company has been fuelled by the founders’ values of honesty, integrity and excellent customer service.”

Staff, who had participated in a year-long series of events, joined clients in digging deep to ensure the £25,000 target was smashed. The charities benefiting will be CHAS, Scottish Huntington’s Association and Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia.

Blairgowrie auctioneer Matthew McNaughton of J&J Howe helped raise more than £6000 on the night as seven auction items went under the hammer and journalist Gordon Bannerman was master of ceremonies.

Managing director Ross Graham – the current president of Perthshire Chamber of Commerce – said: “The support we have enjoyed from the business community has been amazing.” MSP John Swinney (centre) pictured with the directors (from left) Ross Graham, Jimmy Graham and his wife Anna, and Stuart Graham
