Church The service this Sunday morning will be conducted by the Rev James Aitchison, in the church at 11am. The Poverty Sunday lunch held last week raised approximat­ely £300. Thanks are given to all who donated, attended or provided the lunch. The Lent Group will begin on Wednesday, February 21, in the manse at 7.30pm, and will meet for five sessions. The seniors’ Tuesday Club are off to Dalguise for the weekend. Thanks are extended to the youth team who give up their time and talents so willingly to help the local teenagers.

Almondbank

SWI The local Almondbank branch of the group will meet in Pitcairngr­een village hall on Wednesday, February 21, at 7.30pm. Laura from Wiltshire Foods will give a talk to the ladies. St Serfs A joint communion service was held in Methven Church last Sunday. In the evening a service of thanksgivi­ng, led by Rev Graham Crawford, took place in Almondbank. This Sunday Mr Michael Archibald will return to preach at the usual time of 11.30am, to which everyone will be made most welcome.

Alyth

Parish Church Morning Worship last Sunday, was conducted by Rev Mike Erskine. The service this Sunday, will take place at 11am. During term time, the Sunday school welcomes children in the front pews of the church. All welcome. A creche for under threes is available during Sunday morning services. The prayer group meets on Thursdays, in Burnside Court Lounge, at 10.30am. The church website www.alythparis­hchurch.org.uk is updated weekly. The band is on the look out for a lead tip, drummers and pipers of all abilities with the intention of entering competitio­ns for the 2018 season. The lead tip will be expected to teach the learners. St Martins Public Hall The winners of February’s 250 Club draw were as follows: Anne Fraser, Veronica Simpson and Janice Sangster (£10); Janice Smith (£5). Church Morning worship will be held in Balbeggie village hall, at 9.30am this Sunday, with Mrs Alison Scott leading this service. Refreshmen­ts will be served at the close of the service to which all members, friends and visitors will be made welcome.

Whist Drive A basket whist drive will be held in Ballintuim village hall on Friday, February 23, at 7.30pm. All welcome. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the hall funds. Village Hall The village hall’s annual general meeting will be held in the hall on Tuesday, March 6, at 7.30pm.

Church Centre Support Group Local residents are reminded that when clearing out their cupboards or wardrobes to think of Etta, who will be collecting for the charity shop in March. Spring Fayre The event will be held at Bankfoot Church Centre on Saturday, April 21. Tables cost £20 each and are available to book by contacting Evelyn on 01738 710534. The fayre will feature a range of stalls, including crafts, but sellers of noncraft goods would be welcomed to provide a varied shopping experience for the public. Church Centre Café The cafe and soft play is open on week-day mornings, from 9.30am to 1pm. Come along and enjoy a scone or a light lunch. The soft play is free for anyone buying food from the café. CF Quiz Tickets for the prize quiz are on sale at a cost of £1 each from the Church Centre foyer or from local businesses. All are requested to support this fundraisin­g venture.

Bendochy

It was quite an occasion on a Six Nations weekend, with the guest speakers being All Blacks legend Zinzan Brooke and South African World Cup winner Bob Skinstad.

The Atholl Place company is proud Darts and Dominoes Winner of the Darts this week were: 1 - Jim McKenzie, 2 - Meryl McKenzie, booby prize - Sheila Barnett. Dominoes: 1 - Mary Fotheringh­am, 2 - Irene Bettaney. Treasurer Alison Prior will be in the clubhouse on Saturday mornings, from 10am to noon, to collect subscripti­ons which are now due. Dunbarney and Forgandenn­y Church Services this Sunday will be held at the usual times – 9.30am in Dunbarney Church and 11am at Forgandenn­y Church when the first Sunday of Lent will be celebrated. All welcome. Monday Club The next meeting of the club will be held on Monday, February 19, in the church hall at 2pm. The speaker for the afternoon will be Adam Burns from the Tay and Earn Trust. All are welcome to come along for a cup of tea and a chat and to listen to the talk. Chatterbox This group for mums, dads, carers and children aged three and under will resume after the half-term break on Thursday, February 22. This friendly group meets in the church hall and doors open at 9am. Entrance costs £1 per family per morning, and includes a cup of tea for adults and juice for the wee ones as well as toast for all. A warm welcome is guaranteed. Women’s Group The next meeting of the group takes place on Wednesday, February 21, in the church hall at 7.30pm. Margaret Gimblett will be the speaker and her topic is ‘Three wheels on my wagon’. All ladies welcome. Pancake Coffee Morning Friends of Guiding thank everyone who came along and supported their pancake coffee morning last Saturday, which to be associated with various Foundation events.

The foundation, establishe­d in memory of a modest Scot regarded as the greatest of all sports commmentat­ors, backs sporting initiative­s at home and abroad.
