SSEN’s inclusiveness award an honour
Perth-based energy giant Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has been recognised for its inclusive services.
SSEN has been awarded the inclusive service provision status with BSI (British Standards Institution), becoming one of the first UK companies to meet the rigorous standard.
The energy giant had to demonstrate it provided fair accessibility to services for its customers, as well as in its policies and procedures.
Julie Walker, SSEN’s social obligation manager, said:“It’s such a proud achievement for SSEN to be one of the first organisations to go through BSI’s new verification assessment process and to be presented with this certificate in recognition of all the hard work that our staff in customer services and across our region in the north of Scotland and central southern England carry out.
“It is important that each year we show how SSEN is using innovation and ongoing communications to improve how we look after our customers.
“In the last 12 months we have introduced a mapping tool which has already revolutionised how we plan and support projects and partnerships in both our network areas, which - in turn - is helping us to improve the support we already offer our customers in a more efficient and sustainable way.”
She added:“This verification is a fantastic achievement and is down to the hard work of our employees who go the extra mile to support and care for our customers, hard work that will continue year on year so we can provide - and improve on - the services that show our customers we care about their needs.”
This comes as SSEN recently set up an inclusive service panel to bring its employees together and make the business more inclusive.
The panel includes representatives from a number of backgrounds, including mental health, physical disability, occupational health, religious diversity, BME (black and minority ethnic) and the LGBT community.
