Trialforallegedly feigningillnessatPRI
A 28-year-old man will stand trial at the Sheriff Court on April 20, charged with repeatedly feigning illness and unconsciousness at Perth Royal Infirmary’s Accident and Emergency department.
Vincent Parkes, previously of Easterton Farm, Blackford, had an earlier preliminary hearing scheduled for April 5.
He maintained his not guilty plea to three charges and had his bail continued meantime.
It is alleged that on October 27, at the Niblick Pub and at Crown Inn Wynd, Auchterarder, as well as during a journey between there and Perth Police HQ, he argued with bar customers and, when escorted outside, repeatedly shouted and swore.
He is also said to have made false allegations of robbery and, when being assisted by police in their vehicle, he repeatedly banged his head against the interior.
He is further accused of placing a plastic card against his throat and threatening to cut himself with it.
A second charge alleges that he resisted four police officers at Crown Inn Wynd by tensing his arms, attempting to break free, resisting the application of handcuffs and thereafter making himself a“dead weight” and planting his feet on the ground, preventing officers placing him in their vehicle.
Parkes is also accused of shouting and swearing at police, staff and members of the public at the Perth hospital and aggressively demanding urgent medical treatment.
Parkes, whose new address was given as Cockerton Close, Northwich, Cheshire, was to have stood trial on February 19 but that has been delayed.
