PMX set to jet off after Perth gig

-

PMX will be jetting off to the Far East next month, and will play six gigs across the country, including a number in the capital, Tokyo.

The band – who have been taking the Fair City’s music scene by storm for over 20 years – is made up of John Harcus on lead vocals and guitar, Matt Netherington on bass and backing vocals and Scott Henderson on guitar, all from Perth, and Kev Henderson from Glenfarg on the drums.

Now, the fab four are relishing the opportunity to take on Japan.

Lead vocalist John said: “We have been touring for years and we have had our records out for 10 years, and this is the first time we have been able to play to people who have bought them in Japan.

“Our music is punk rock, but it is very American in influence with melodic three-way harmonies, so no screaming.

“It is very fast paced and super technical - we take pop songs of three or four chords and speed them up and tear them apart. We have done plenty of tours and been to Europe numerous times and Canada, and lots of tours of the UK.

“Back in the day of MySpace we were flaunting our music and trying to connect with record labels online, and in Tokyo, Bells on Records approached us to release our first album in Japan. The album got sold all over Japan by Tower Records, so we are super excited to go over there.

“We have played in the Perth music scene all of our lives, and we don’t know anyone else from here who has gone away to tour Japan.”

The band leave on Saturday, March 3 for their overseas tour, and say the tour operators have been able to give them a driver, a stage crew and someone to sell their merchandise when they are over there.

Kev said: “It is going to be a culture shock, but actually playing the shows, that is what it is all about. There is something about being on the road and being in the van for two weeks.

“It’s your own space, you don’t have to worry about anything, you just play and drive.

“It feels like the years of hard work and practice are finally paying off – but whether there are five or five thousand in the crowd, it will just be awesome to play on the stage.”

Scott added: “This is why we play, because it is fun – if you are not
