Perth-based Scottish Communicat­ions Group (SCG) has appointed Liam Mowat as the new managing director.

Mr Mowat, former technical director, succeeds Paul Gibson, former MD and founder of the business.

He now has sole responsibi­lity for the day to day running of the business, including building annual turnover to more than £5million, as well as expanding market share in the North East of England, as the company continues to expand beyond Scotland.

Mr Mowat said:“SCG is currently in a great position – we have achieved a 25 per cent growth in turnover and staff since 2015, having signed major contracts with Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited, the Scottish Event Campus and Forth Ports Limited worth £2.8m.

“We have also recently secured a three-year maintenanc­e contract with the University of Dundee, potentiall­y worth more than £600,000.”

Former managing director Paul Gibson, who founded the company in 1979, will head up the board of directors as chairman, with a focus on providing strategic guidance and support to the management team.

He said:“The board has successful­ly implemente­d a structured growth plan for the company over the past five years. I am delighted to appoint Liam to the position of managing director.”

In addition to Liam’s appointmen­t, Stuart Leslie now heads up the sales team and joins the board of directors.

He said:“I’m very much looking forward to my new role.

“The last few years have seen us win some major accounts. I look forward to leading the sales team during an ambitious new phase for the company.”
