Over 50,000 descend on festival event
The Perth Winter Festival came to a conclusion on Wednesday, February 14, with the final night of the Riverside Light Nights themed for Valentine’s Day.
The total footfall at the event was 53,518 for the 19 nights of the event. Within the event there was seven themed nights: Burns, Superhero, Super Bright, Wonderland, Yellow Brick Road, Chinese New Year and Valentines.
When theme nights were not programmed the event simply consisted of music and light. Each themed night took place over two nights.
From Hallowe’en to the Light Nights the 2017/18 Perth Winter Festival has been the biggest event yet and has featured a mix of returning events and new events that have been caught the imagination of the public, such as the Cake Fest.
The full economic impact of the Winter Festival will be reported to a future meeting of the environment and infrastructure committee. The lights captivated people young and old

Councillor Colin Stewart, convener of the council’s environment and infrastructure committee, said: “The Riverside Light Nights has once again been a great success with tens of thousands of people coming to Perth over the last two weeks.
“The final night brought our Winter Festival to an end and I hope the people of Perth and Kinross and all visitors to the area have enjoyed themselves.
“I look forward to seeing the full economic impact from all of the events that have taken place over the last few months.”
