Glitz and glamour with Brendan Cole in Perth
Artists from across Perth and Kinross are being invited to join in an open rehearsal.
Plan B for Utopia is a dance show extravaganza coming to Perth Theatre on Saturday, March 10.
However, the creators of the show are hoping to welcome artists, designers and those who want to practice their skills to an open technical rehearsal before the show starts.
Plan B for Utopia is an exploration of how we choose to live our lives, and is ultimately a story of friendship, using dance, theatre and storytelling.
Artists will be able to sketch the show’s two dancers Solene Weinachter and Joan Cleville as they practice in the open rehearsal, giving the opportunity to draw moving subjects in a changing environment.
The open rehearsal will take place from 4pm until 6pm on Saturday in the theatre’s Joan Knight Studio.
The auditorium will be quite dark at certain times during the rehearsal, so artists are encouraged to bring their own reading light or headtorch to help them work.
The Plan B for Utopia show will then take place in the studio theatre from 8pm. Tickets cost £11 from the Horsecross box office.
The creators of the dance show will also be staging a panel discussion on playwriting and creating dance in the Joan Knight Studio on Friday, March 9 at 6pm. The glitz and glamour of the ballroom is coming to Perth this week ... writes Rachel Clark.
Former Strictly Come Dancing sensation Brendan Cole will be taking to the stage in Perth Concert Hall for his showstopping performance, “All Night Long”.
Dance star Brendan will be joined on stage by a captivating leading lady and a sensational cast of some of the country’s best ballroom dancers.
The dancing will come complete with a 14-piece band and singers.
Lovers of the dance floor will be treated to stunning special effects and dazzling choreography, including ballroom favourites such as tango, paso doble, foxtrot and waltz.
However, the organisers of the show have promised some surprises along the way, as it is “no ordinary dance show”.
One person who is eager to welcome Brendan Cole to the Fair City is Provost Dennis Melloy, himself an accomplished ballroom dancing teacher.
Provost Melloy said: “It is wonderful to get Brendan Cole to come to Perth.
“It would be great if we could get more people dancing then there would be less trouble in the world.
“This is wonderful for Perth because so many people enjoy ballroom dancing on the back of Strictly Come Dancing, and the concert hall is the perfect venue.”
All Night Long starts at 8pm on Wednesday, February 21 at Perth Concert Hall. Tickets from £34 from Horsecross box office, call 01738 621031.
