Kerr unfazed by trip to home of the champions

Jason Kerr was solid at the back and delighted to keep a clean sheet Celtic ............................ 0 St Johnstone ................. 0 It was Jason Kerr’s first ever appearance in front of a crowd that size.

But the promising centre-back produced a composed and confident performanc­e as St Johnstone stifled Celtic at Parkhead.

This was a Perth squad in urgent need of a spark. Something to kick-start a season that, recently, has been heading in the wrong direction.

But a familiarit­y from previous years of success was evident on Sunday.

The hard-to-beat mentality returned to pick up a deserved and valuable point.

Kerr was delighted to play his part and said: “You could say I enjoyed the game by the end.

“They have some strike force, every Celtic team you come up against is good.

“They had Scott Sinclair and Odsonne Edouard on from the start, who are two class players, and then they have the likes of Dembele and James Forrest to come off the bench.

“I thought we dealt with Edouard well but then they bring on Dembele, who is different and an even better player.

“But I thought we handled the pair of them well during the ninety minutes.

“For a while they kept coming at us but we coped well and created a few chances of our own.

“It was the first time I have played at Celtic Park and at the start I was a bit nervous because it’s a big crowd.

“But the way we played made me feel comfortabl­e, the lads really kept the ball well and as the game wore on I think we
