Big thanks for special needs gift
A Perthshire charity supporting nearly 100 children and young people with Additional Support Needs (ASN) has thanked the many businesses, organisations and individuals that have helped it.
Support Help and Integration in Perthshire (SHIP) has been running since 1986, started by a group of parents who identified a need within the local area for supporting ASN children.
SHIP now runs a host of facilities - a Stay and Play group for under 5s, youth clubs, sports/ activity group, Saturday Clubs and Holiday Clubs, where children and young people develop friendships while being offering fun and stimulating activities in an inclusive environment.
The Christmas Fayre held by Doodlebugs Nursery (Aberuthven) raised £465 for SHIP.
Perth High School had a stall and this brought in £262.84 and Asda donated £367 raised in a raffle.
A&B Taxis donated an amazing £1000 from its staff Christmas bonus ball andLaurna Kelly from Perth College UHI raised £151 by having a stall for SHIP.
Volunteer Jenny Moug did a sponsored swim and netted the charity £90 and another sporty soul, Pat Clements, raised £150 from doing a Children from Gleneagles Day Opportunities Youth Club, parents, committee members and representatives from Perth High School with Jenny Moug of the sponsored swim and Nicola Schelbert, SHIP manager run in the Mactuff Kids Family Challenge.
Nicola Schelbert, SHIP’s general manager, said:“We would also like to thank the Gannochy Trust for helping support our children and young people and their families.
“We really appreciate these people choosing our charity and are extremely grateful for their support.”
And Nicola pledged:“Every penny raised will be used to support our activities, providing respite to parents and carers, volunteering opportunities to young people, and fun activities for the children who access our service.”
