Manpesteredformer partner formonths

-

A Perth man who pestered his ex-girlfriend for almost four months in a bid to rekindle their relationship had a two-year nonharassment order imposed at the city’s sheriff court.

The court was told that 29-year-old self-employed joiner Neil Rodgers sent Michelle Carle texts despite being told not to and repeatedly turned up at her house uninvited.

On one occasion he tried to force his way into her home and stared through the windows.

And when that didn’t work, he showered her with unwanted gifts including flowers, jewellery and Easter eggs.

But things turned nasty when she failed to respond and he kicked her car, damaging the wing mirror.

Rodgers, of Campsie Road, also had a community payback order imposed when he appeared for sentence.

He will have to complete 120 hours of unpaid work over the next four months and will be supervised by a social worker for six months.

Passing sentence, Sheriff William Wood told him:“This is the sort of case where, because of the persistence of the conduct over a period of months, it might have justified a custodial sentence.

“However, in the circumstances I am satisfied an alternative is available.”

Rodgers pled guilty to an amended charge part-way through his trial after the victim of his attentions had given“a substantial amount of evidence”.

He admitted that on various occasions between December 26, 2016, and April 17, 2017, at Rannoch Road and Langside Road, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person fear or alarm.
