Teenagerisfined fordrunkenattack
A drunken teenager has been ordered to pay another youth £200 in compensation after he attacked him in a Blairgowrie street.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that the victim believed he had“blacked out”after being set upon by 18-year-old Joshua Kermath.
After regaining consciousness, he was taken by ambulance to Dundee’s Ninewell’s Hospital where he was treated for various cuts and bruises then allowed home.
Kermath, of Glendevon Court, Blairgowrie, was also ordered to carry out 115 hours of unpaid work over the next four months and he will be supervised for six months to ensure the compensation is paid.
He admitted that in the early hours of June 17 last year, at Leslie Street, Blairgowrie, while acting with others, he assaulted the other person by repeatedly punching him on the head and body.
Part of the charge which alleged he had kicked the other man was deleted.
Depute fiscal Tina Dickie said that the victim had met up with other people and had gone to buy food from a carry-out shop in Leslie Street.
The accused appeared shortly after midnight and it was apparent he was “heavily intoxicated”.
There was a disagreement and Kermath “ran up”to the other youth, pushed him and then punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.
The victim was then punched on the head while lying there.
Solicitor Pauline Cullerton described the incident as“very unpleasant”for the victim.
Sheriff William Wood told Kermath:“If you find that when you drink too much you lose control, the answer is don’t drink.”
The accused, a first offender, will pay the compensation at £30 a week.
