Charge nurse Kim Mollison, student nurse Blair Sloan, Sarah Lamont, staff nurse Karen Donald, and Fiona Martin from The Sunshine Box A generous Perthshire teenager has donated toys, books and games for sick children at Tayside Children’s Hospital.

Sarah Lamont (13) from Inchture raised a whopping £570 after a number of people sponsored her to have 11 inches chopped off her hair. Not only has Sarah donated her locks to The Little Princess Trust, she has also spent the money she raised to buy some much-needed toys for the hospital’s Sunshine Box.

The Sunshine Box in the children’s hospital’s clinical investigation unit is full of toys for children of all ages, to help distract the children when they are receiving their treatment.

Perthshire’s Sarah said:“My big brother raised money for Cash for Kids and that inspired me to do something.

“My friend is being treated for cancer at the moment so I thought I could cut my hair and donate it to The Little Princess Trust and raise money for The Sunshine Box at the same time.”

She added:“A big thank you to everyone who helped me raise money to buy an amazing amount of things for the boxes.”

Sarah visited the Tayside Children’s Hospital in Dundee to drop off her donations of toys, books and games for the sick children.

On accepting Sarah’s generous donation, Kim Mollison, one of the unit’s charge nurses, said:“A big thank you to Sarah for her very generous donation.

“We are looking forward to handing out her amazing donations to children to distract them from what is going on around them when they come into the unit.”
