Wright relishing Rangers visit

-

Saints boss Tommy Wright Tommy Wright insists his St Johnstone players head into tonight’s Premiership clash against Rangers without any fear.

The McDiarmid Park squad have a renewed confidence following a draw at Celtic Park and Saturday’s comfortable win at home to Ross County.

Rangers have bagged three Premiership wins in a row but Wright and Co are determined to bring that run to a crashing halt in Perth.

“We’re obviously looking forward to the game because we’re going into it on the back of two good performances,”Wright said.

“I know how some clubs might look at it but we’ve got a decent record against Rangers and we’ve already beaten them.

“I believe that we can beat any team in this division. We did extremely well at their place and controlled large parts of the game here.

“There was some poor decisionmaking from us and refereeing decisions went against us that night.

“We had something like 20 corners, which shows the pressure we were putting them under.

“If you’d told me that before the game, I’d have said we’d have won it. So we’ve nothing to fear.

“They spent some money, which big clubs can do, but I always believe in my team whatever the opposition.”

Saints came through Saturday’s game against Ross County without any more injury concerns.

Wright said:“The one thing that was important on Saturday was we were hard to beat.

“They didn’t create a chance until right at the end, practically the last kick of the ball.

“We worked really hard, had energy and made the right decisions. It was a good performance and you could see the belief coming back.

“We know Rangers will pose us different problems and we’ll have to deal with that.

“There’s a few knocks but I think everybody will be fine.

“Matty Willock will train and George Williams was fit to be on the bench on Saturday so, touch wood, there are no fresh injuries.

“Brian Easton had an injection. David McMillan is taking time – a bit more than we expected – and I’m reluctant to put a return date on it because every time I do that I have to change it.”
