No prison for having child abuse images

Peter Wilson narrowly escaped a prison sentence A married man who downloaded indecent images of children after taking part in on-line chat rooms “narrowly avoided” a prison sentence at Perth Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Gillian Wade said that although the number of indecent pictures found on Peter Wilson’s computer was small, she told him: “It’s people like you who cause these children to suffer harm.”

The court heard that the 39-yearold, of Kintillo Gardens, Bridge of Earn, had been receiving treatment from his doctor because he often watched pornograph­y - and engaged in sex chat lines.

A total of 12 indecent images were discovered on his silver iMac. Just one, however, was at Category A, the most obscene, while two were Category B and nine were Category C.

He was ordered to be supervised for the next three years and carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

He will also have to take part in a “Moving Forward, Making Changes” programme - and his name was added to the sex offenders’ register for three years.

He admitted downloadin­g the indecent images at his home in Kintillo between October 26, 2015, and March 16, 2017.

The court heard that a search warrant was executed at the accused’s home address which he shares with his wife.

A “number” of electronic devices were seized, among them his iMac.

He provided officers with the password and the indecent images were discovered. He subsequent­ly gave a “no comment interview” and
