Man pinned partner to railway wall

-

A man who has a history of violence attacked his partner at Perth Railway Station the day after Valentine’s Day, first pinning her against a wall.

Thirty-five-year-old William Murray, of George Square, Ayr, then head-butted her, Perth Sheriff Court was told.

He was remanded in custody while a previously ordered background report is made available.

Solicitor Steve Lafferty said the initial report hadn’t been prepared for reasons“outwith his control.”

He asked that his client be given his liberty while the Community Justice Social Work report was compiled.

But Sheriff Gillian Wade pointed out that Murray had previously been kept in custody“for a reason.”

And she added:“The reason was his record, which is extremely bad.”

The accused admitted that on February 15, 2017, in Perth’s Leonard Street, he assaulted girlfriend Denise Thomson by placing his forearm against her neck and then head-butting her.

He was jailed for two years at Ayr Sheriff Court on July 19, 2012, for a domestically aggravated assault involving a knife.

He also has convictions for domestic assault to injury and breach of the peace.

He will discover his fate on April 4 when the background to the latest attack will be given.
