Planners urged to reject Inchture housing proposal

Planners have been advised to shoot down an application for a large-scale housing development in Inchture after Environmental Health condemned the plans.
Hadden Construction had applied to build 66 houses at the land 150 metres south-west of Moncur Farm, north of the village, complete with associated works.
This is the second application for the site, with previous plans to build 74 houses in the field withdrawn last year.
However, Environmental Health has recommended the refusal of the plans citing a potential loss of amenity arising from nearby/neighbouring land use in a report filed last week.
This follows on from 57 objections from the Inchture Community Council, local residents and housing developers Muir Homes.
The report also highlighted issues regarding noise from the adjacent A90 dual carriageway and the nearby potato packagersTaypack.
It stated:“I believe that the significance of the noise for much of the site is large rather than moderate, that the qualitative assessment does nothing to change this.”
Ward councillor Angus Forbes said:“I am delighted to see that the planners are recommending this for refusal, while it was always to be the case that houses would be built on that site, the sheer scale of this proposal was an issue for me and I couldn’t support it.
“Not only that, the layout of the proposal was flawed in my view.
“This is the second proposal from this developer for the site and I am sure they will go back to the drawing board. Let’s hope the next one is far smaller.”
The application is likely to be discussed at Wednesday’s planning and development management committee meeting.
