Hospital Radio Perth hopes it can net a massive cash boost from the sale of singleuse bags at Tesco.

Grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores are awarded to local community projects through the Bags of Help initiative.

Hospital Radio Perth (HRP) is one of three groups on the Perthshire shortlist of groups up for the top grant.

The popular charity based at PRI is fundraising in an effort to refresh and replace parts of the broadcasting studio which was last refitted 15 years ago.

HRP station chairman, John Watson said: “We have now successfully refurbished the main mixing desks, but much of the ancillary equipment and the 24-hour computing system are in need of replacement.

“We anticipate that we will need to raise over £7,000 to ensure we can carry on for a further 15 years and more.”

Voting in all Tesco stores in Perth and Scone using a token system happens all through March and April.
