17-year-old girl is released from custody

Police Scotland has confirmed a 17-year-old female has been released following an incident last week in Perth.

The 17-year-old female and a 45-year-old male from Staffordsh­ire were arrested at Perth Railway Station, and both were admitted to PRI and then Ninewells Hospital.

The 45-year-old man, Stuart Lymer of Uttoxeter, appeared in Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with being in possession of a knife at Perth Railway Station and made no plea.

A spokespers­on said:“Police Scotland can confirm that the 17-year-old female arrested in connection with the incident in a police vehicle in Perth on Monday, March 5, has been released from custody pending further investigat­ion. “Enquiries are ongoing.” The case has been referred to Police Investigat­ion and Review Commission­er (PIRC) for an investigat­ion.

A spokesman for the PIRC said:“We can confirm that we have received a referral from Police Scotland in relation to the serious injury of a 17-year-old woman and 45-year-old man who were being transferre­d in a police vehicle to Perth Police Office on Monday, March 5.

“Our investigat­ion is ongoing and it would be inappropri­ate to comment further.”
