Helpfight multiple sclerosis

-

Perth and Kinross residents who suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS) are being encouraged to get involved in a survey to help battle the disease.

MS Society Scotland is encouraging people with relapsing remitting MS who have been diagnosed within the last 20 years to fill out an online survey on their experiences of accessing disease modifying therapies (DMTs).

The results of the survey will be written into a full report which will build a picture of the treatment landscape in Scotland and help to provide better support for people making decisions around treatments.

Keith Park, external relations Officer for MS Society Scotland, said: “The results from this survey will allow us to understand the issues people face when making decisions about whether or not to take a disease modifying therapy – or indeed which one to take.

“From our ‘My MS My Needs’ report, we know that there are still 43 per cent of people eligible for a DMT that aren’t receiving one and we would like to better understand why this is and what kind of support we can offer to people regarding treatment decisions.”

The survey, which is anonymous, takes around 10 minutes to complete and can be found at: http://bit. ly/2EeZNC0

More than 11,000 people in Scotland are living with MS which can cause problems with how a person moves, thinks and feels.

The MS Society is here for everyone affected by MS and has a free and confidential helpline which can be contacted on 0808 800 8000.
