A £120,000 landscape improvement project is set to take place on the A9 in Perth, with works due to get underway on the southbound A9 between the A9/A85 junction and the Broxden Roundabout this week.

The project will involve cutting overgrown scrub and vegetation as well as thinning the existing treeline to promote healthier growth of the remaining trees on the southbound verge. A number of trees will also be felled for the safety of trunk road users and local residents.

Work started yesterday (Monday, March 19) and will last for two weeks.

The landscape improvement works will take place during 9.30am and 3.30pm on week days only for approximately two weeks. No traffic management will be in place on Friday or at the weekend in order to keep any disruption to the travelling public at a minimum.

To ensure the safety of road workers as well as road users a lane closure will be in operation on the southbound A9 while works are undertaken.

BEAR Scotland has been working with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of the project and share information about the traffic managements that will be in place.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s North East representative, said:“These works will involve our landscaping teams clearing some of the vegetation next to the A9, promoting healthier growth but also ensuring that any trees or branches that could pose a hazard are removed.

“The works are taking place during the daytime in off-peak hours, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”
