Jayne fights by-election

-

The Scottish Labour Party has announced its candidate for the Highland ward byelection next month.

Jayne Ramage from Aberfeldy will be standing for the Labour party in the hope of being elected to Perth and Kinross Council on Thursday, April 19.

Jayne said: “As someone who has taught in local Highland primary schools, and has run school activity groups, I am passionate about safeguarding education and community welfare from cuts in services.

“I am now a small business employer - here at The Watermill in Aberfeldy we employ several young people. I am all too aware of the problems they face securing accommodation and setting up homes.

“We do our best - we pay the Living Wage plus, but it is only by electing Labour - at local and national level - that things will change for the better.

“A minimum wage of £10 by 2020 and affordable homes policies to shift resources Ramage Jayne

from the wealthy minority to the generation that has been so badly served. For the many not the few.”

Jayne will stand against John Duff for the Conservatives, excouncillor John Kellas for the SNP, Lib Dems’Chris Rennie, Mary McDougall from the Scottish Green Party, and independent candidate Avril Taylor.

Whoever wins in next month’s by-election will go on to represent the Highland ward at Perth and Kinross Council alongside Councillor Xander McDade and Councillor Mike Williamson.
