Man Club’s fundraiser for Kilimanjaro team
Perth Andy’s Man Club organisers are preparing for a trek of a lifetime to raise money for the mental health support group.
Alex McClintock and Adam Allison will scale Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s highest free-standing mountain, this October to raise money for the group - along with organisers from branches across the UK.
Andy’s Man Club offers any man who is going through a storm, or has been through a storm, a place to talk and has been running in the Fair City since last summer.
Alex told the PA:“Luke Ambler (AMC founder) came up with the idea and we couldn’t say no. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, not only to climb Kilimanjaro, but a fantastic way to raise awareness of the stigmas surrounding mental health and how we are challenging these.
“We are going in October this year and are raising funds for myself and Adam, firstly to get there, and then once we have achieved the £5000 target for the trip, any money over and above will go into the main fundraising for Andy’s Man Club.
“We were hoping that some local companies would personally sponsor myself and Adam for the eight day trek up and down the mountain.
“At the moment, I think there is going to be 10 or 12 guys going and we will find out more about the actual trip on Saturday.”
The team is also planning on holding a sportsmen’s dinner as a fundraiser. You can support Alex and Adam by donating at www.justgiving.com/ crowdfunding/ amctattooraffle?utm_id=125
