Event to bring Carse area together

A Carse Communitie­s Together event will take place on Saturday, March 24 from 10.30am until 3pm at The Maddoch Centre, St Madoes.

The event will bring together 13 community groups from the Carse of Gowrie area who have applied for Participat­ory Budgeting funding through the Eastern Perthshire Action Partnershi­p and Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnershi­p.

Groups have been invited to bid for up to £3000 from a total fund of £20,000 to carry out projects tackling issues such as improving health and wellbeing, reducing social isolation and creating more activities for young people.

Community members can vote for the three projects they feel should receive funding. Voting takes place at the event and closes at 1.30pm on the day. Voting sheets and ballot boxes have been placed in the following venues across the area until Thursday, March 22 for those who can’t attend. There will also be informatio­n stalls on the theme of health and wellbeing, sports taster sessions from LiveActive Leisure and the Madoch Centre, and cooking demonstrat­ions.

A plant expert from Glendoick Garden Centre will be on hand to give gardening advice.

There will be lots for the kids with a bouncy castle, play park, and a fire engine.

Carse Communitie­s Together has free entry with free raffle and cup of tea/coffee on the day.
