Crieff Highland Gathering directors have announced the line-up for this year’s Glenturret Music Tent at the town’s highland games, which take place on Sunday, August 19.

This year’s showpiece will be a celebration of Crieff’s long-standing relationship with its sister games in the USA - the Ohio Scottish Games -with the twinning celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2018. Former president of the OH Games, Mike Mihalic, is this year’s chieftain and the Scottish/ American theme will continue into the music tent.

And the acts are sure to get the games crowd going with Celtic folk rock bands Journey North, American Rogues and the talented Little Fire set to take to the stage.

CHG chairman Ian Stewart said: “Journey North have performed in Crieff before although not at the games. We have been asked for them to appear and are delighted they have agreed.

“Little Fire aka Jamie McGeechan is a Scottish lad from Ayrshire, who surprisingly we met in Ohio at the games. He was there performing and we asked him to Crieff and we are equally delighted to have him along.

“The American Rogues are a group we have met before and who also perform at the Ohio Scottish Games. They are also the official band for the Navy Seal Museum.

“We are delighted that they accepted our invitation to come and perform in Crieff.

“All in all three fantastic acts, each giving something different for the day.”

Ian continued: “We will also be welcoming the current president of Ohio SG, Margaret McCullough, to Crieff for the first time, as well as Ohio SG committee member and current chair of the Scottish American Cultural Society, Alexandra Woods. There are also many family members of Mike Mihalic travelling to Crieff to join in the big day.”

Mr Stewart praised Glenturret Distillery for sponsoring the music tent and thanked manager John Laurie for his support.

He added: “The Glenturret Music Tent has become a huge part of the day at the gathering and something that is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

“As always we try to give the people

top athletes will be appearing at Crieff of Crieff what they want as well as something new and something they’ve not seen before.

“We know that the many visitors who travel from afar to watch the acts in the music tent along with the many locals will once again enjoy a fantastic musical experience.”
