A planning application for eight new homes on the fringes of the Cairngorms National Park has been given the green light.
The Cairngorms National Park Authority’s planning committee approved Atholl Estates’planning application to build eight two-bedroom homes in Blair Atholl at a meeting in Boat of Garten, Strathspey on Friday, March 23.
The new Highland Perthshire homes will be aimed at the“affordable rented market”, with the planning committee saying they are positive and supportive of the Blair Atholl development.
The committee added they also welcome a move to see more rental properties at affordable rates within the area.
Katherine Donnachie, planning officer at the Cairngorms National Park Authority, said:“Housing developments within settlements are supported in principle and this small scale development is a good proposal for this currently vacant area of land.
“It is well located within the village and overall this development is welcomed.”
Peter Argyle, planning committee member at the park authority, also said: “This is an excellent application with everything that we as a planning committee look for - we have affordable homes and a good design.”
Atholl Estates will now look to start creating the eight houses in Blair Atholl.
