Night to help refugees

-

and we have got the last band finalised for the night.

“The Sandemans, The Kalaharis, Cover Daddy and Real Life Entertainment have all singed up to perform.

“They are great bands and will really get the crowd up dancing, so I am delighted.

“The bands have jumped at the chance to perform, they have been really supportive of everything we have been doing here at Perth Against Racism.”

Although they already have four local bands confirmed for the night, the organisers are already hoping to secure more entertaining acts before the date. Cat Mackay continued: “This will be a really fun evening and it will let people get their dancing shoes on.

“We are really excited about the line-up.

“Safe Passage help to reunite unaccompanied refugee children to their families so they are supported to come here legally.

“Some of the stories from them are horrendous.

“The other charity we will be supporting is Perth and Kinross Community of Sanctuary, newly formed to help refugee families already living here.”

Despite the group being set up in reaction to the Scottish Defence League staging a demonstration against the creation of a mosque on the Fair City’s Jeanfield Road, the members now hope they can achieve positivity by raising money for charity and influencing positive change in attitudes.

Cat said: “When we got together it was to go against the SDL but we wanted to keep the group together and we thought this charity night was a good idea.

“This will be supporting refugees and diversity in Perth and we look to be ‘ Perth Unity’, because that was fighting against something, now we want to be positive.

“I am determined to make this a good night.

“Perth mosque is still in the early stages but the members of the mosque know Perth Against Racism are behind them.

“If anything else like the SDL protest last year does happen, we are already here and ready.”

Tickets for the charity night at Perth Civil Service Club cost £7 and can be bought online through EventBrite or from Blend Coffee Lounge on the Old High Street.

The music will start at 7pm and go on until 12.30pm. Wover Daddy
