Organiser Carolyn Clark (right) Staff and customers at Live Active Leisure’s Rodney Fitness Centre have been pedalling for a good cause.

Determined riders set the wheels in motion to power through 703km and raise more than £200 for Sport Relief.

The Sport Relief ‘Bike-a-thon’ fundraiser invited staff members and customers to take part in 30 minute sessions on an exercise bike.

The aim was to cycle as many kilometres as possible within that time.

Customer Ben Dawes cycled the furthest distance and won a free personal training session with fitness instructor Carolyn Clark.

Carolyn, a fitness instructor for Live Active, organised the fundraising event.

She said: “Our customers and staff were amazing and they got right into the spirit of the challenge.

“It was great to see a variety of abilities and ages getting involved and getting active.

“We also greatly appreciate all of the generous donations that were given.”

Sport Relief is a biennial charity event from Comic Relief, in association with BBC Sport, which brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

At the heart of the campaign is the “Sport Relief Mile”, which involves members of the public doing their bit for charity.
