“We are still focused on what we have to do.

“That is to finish as high as we can in the league. Seventh is our target and we’re gutted not to get three points against Motherwell.”

Wotherspoo­n had Saints’ best chance of Saturday’s stalemate against Motherwell at McDiarmid Park.

He said: “I found myself in the box and Scott Tanser picked me out with the cross. I’ve tried to guide it towards goal and managed to get it on target.

“But the goalkeeper has done well to get down and make the save and also push the ball out of my direction for the rebound.

“It was a tough game and we knew it would be. It was a battle from start to finish.

“But I felt we were probably the better team and deserved a bit more out of the game.”
