Singer is fined over ruckus in Perth pub

Challenged old bandmate

- Court Reporter

Gavin Munro is the frontman of The Red Pine Timber Company A singer who brandished a bar stool at a former bandmate and challenged him to a brawl has been fined £750.

Gavin Munro (51), the frontman of popular Perth band The Red Pine Timber Company, was on bail when he asked a drummer he used to perform with for a scrap while they were both at The Green Room nearly two years ago.

He also sent Michael Maclennan, who is now the frontman of another Perth band, The Carloways, a string of abusive text messages the same day.

Munro had been on bail at the time for fighting with Mr Maclennan two years before that at a boozy 18th birthday party in Bridge of Earn where the singer claimed during a trial he was attacked with a guitar and hit on the head with a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Late last year Sheriff Gillian Wade found Munro guilty of engaging in a fight with Mr Maclennan at a property in Muirmont Court on November 16, 2014, refusing to leave when asked to and repeatedly pulling at the arms and headrest of a wheelchair while a disabled woman was sitting in it.

Munro had admitted earlier that at the same address and on the same date he also wrecked the house by repeatedly punching walls, doors and light fittings after telling Perth Sheriff Court he had taken what he “believed to be cocaine” at the gettogether.

He was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and undergo treatment for alcohol dependency for those offences but was not sentenced for the fracas at The Green Room at the time as Sheriff Wade wanted to see if he would attend community service and counselling first.

She heard on Wednesday this week that Munro had consistently attended Mindspace since his conviction to deal with his self-professed problems with alcohol and had already completed 130 of the 200 hours of unpaid work he had been ordered to complete.

Sheriff Wade decided to dispose of the outstanding matter by fining Munro £750. She added she would not insist on another review of Munro’s earlier sentence as she was satisfied he would complete it.
