And many punters will be hoping for sunshine when the beer festival returns once again.

Clubs from across Scotland, including local teams from Crieff, Blairgowri­e and the Fair City, will be playing against each other on the inch from 11.30am onwards.

Favourite beers from the Inveralmon­d Brewery will also be on offer in the beer tent, along with special guest beer “ThaiPA”, a tropical IPA made with chillies and lemongrass.

Fergus Clark, founder and chief executive of Inveralmon­d Brewery, said a collaborat­ion with the beer festival made “perfect sense”.

He said: “Inveralmon­d Brewery is Perth born and bred, or should I say born and brewed, so it makes perfect sense to lend our support once more to this excellent community event.

“We look forward to raising our glasses again to another successful Money raised will go to Perthshire Rugby Perth Beer Festival.” The kegs will start flowing from noon, with the beer festival tent and the new craft gin bar opening up, along with a barbecue. Allan continued: “Over 20 ales will be available for sampling alongside eight small batch craft gins in the new craft gin bar. “We’ll have a live music stage and, new for 2018, put your pooch through its paces at Dog Agility by PADS. “Families can relax and enjoy the range of family-friendly activities including a climbing wall, bike track and free Rugby Nippers taster sessions.”

Tickets for the comedy night cost £20 and can be bought on the door.

During the day, entry to the beer festival is free, and the Big Bash finale with music from Circus costs £20.

A Police Scotland spokespers­on added: “We hope that everyone enjoys themselves on Saturday but we urge them to drink responsibl­y.
