Saint is angry to lose late goal

So the St Johnstone centre-back was left with a tinge of frustratio­n at losing a late goal in Tuesday evening’s victory against Hamilton.

The Scotland Under-21 internatio­nal has made a seamless transition to the Perth first team this season following loan spells in the lower leagues.

He was delighted moving into the final stages of the midweek match after two second-half goals had Saints heading for another away triumph.

David McMillan’s penalty and a sweet David Wotherspoo­n strike did the business before Dougie Imrie nodded home late on.

But Kerr and Co battled to keep hold of the three points.

“We’re pleased with the performanc­e,” the 21-year-old told the Perthshire Advertiser. “The past two away games, especially, have been great.

“We’ve scored seven goals and got six points so the boys are buzzing. But it wasn’t a great goal to give away.

“It would have been nice to get a clean sheet, we’re disappoint­ed as defenders but it is still good to get the win. That is all that matters.

“People will say that we have nothing to play for because we are safe but we are not thinking like that. We are on the same points as Motherwell so if we win our next game we can still finish seventh.”
