Sportsclubmakes sweetplea
A Perth-based sports club is on the hunt for sweet treats to help raise some much-needed funds.
Perth Strathtay Harriers is hosting a competition at its George Duncan Athletics Arena next weekend, and wants to hold a confectionary tombola and a tea tent to raise money for the club.
The harriers are wanting donations of small boxes of chocolates and bags of sweets to sell at their confectionary tombola, and home baking for their tea tent.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Perth Strathtay Harriers competes in the RAM athletics league. The next meeting is on Sunday, May 27 and will be held in Perth when we will be the hosts.
“As a fun activity on the day we are hoping to run a confectionary tombola and are looking for donations. The type of items which would be good are small boxes of chocolates, e.g. Roses, Heroes, Celebrations, Maltesers, bags of sweets, large bars of chocolate (approximately 100g), multi-pack chocolate bars such as Mars, Twirl, Twix, etc.
“We will be accepting donations for this at training or on the day.
“Also at the competition on May 27 we will provide a tea tent where donations of cake, scones, etc. would be gratefully appreciated and should be handed in from 10am on the day. We are also looking for adult helpers to man the tent on the day.
“These small activities are key to raising much needed funds for the club, any help or donations would be much appreciated.”
Those wishing to donate sweets, chocolates or home baking can hand them in at the running track on the morning of the competition, or contact the club from www.strathtayharriers. co.uk/index.php/contact-us
