A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Annalise Johnstone.

The body of Annalise (22) was found on the B8062 Auchterarder to Dunning road on Thursday, May 10.

Officers from Police Scotland’s major investigations team have been probing her death for the past fortnight, with several sites across Tayside forming part of the investigation.

Yesterday, Police Scotland confirmed a man was in custody although he had not been charged by the time the Perthshrie Advertiser went to press.

DS James Smith, senior investigating officer from the major investigations team, said: “I can confirm today [Thursday, May 24] that we have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the death of Annalise, which is now being treated as murder.

“Our thoughts are very much with Annalise’s family and friends, who are still being supported by specialist officers during this difficult time.”

He continued:“A number of enquiries are being carried out at locations across Tayside as part of our investigations into her death.

“Enquiries have necessitated the closure of the B8062 and I am grateful for the patience of local residents and motorists while this work is being carried out.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their assistance during this investigation.”

Annalise left her home in a silver Ford Galaxy the day before she died and was dropped off at an address in Ruthven Court, Auchterarder to babysit.

She was last seen in the town at 10pm that night. Annalise Johnstone
