St Johnstone working well with offenders
The first block of the new Saints Onside Project, introduced by the St Johnstone Community Trust, was completed this week and clients were presented with their certificates.
Working in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council’s Community Safety Service (CSS), Saints in the Community delivered a five-week programme, consisting of two three-hour sessions per week, with the aim of reducing reoffending and encouraging positive outcomes for people sentenced to Community Payback Orders in Perth and Kinross.
The Community Safety Team selected the client group from offenders. The maximum number of participants was six, with one staff member from CSS working alongside trained staff from the community trust. The project combined elements of vocational training with physical exercise, food hygiene, fire safety and CV writing and interview skills.
