All aboard for model railway open day

-

The West Pickston Railway is gearing up for the summer this weekend.

An open day will be held at the Glenalmond model railway on Sunday, May 27, where members of the public will be able to ride the miniature trains from 11.30am until 4pm.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Model Engineering Trust said: “The Scottish Model Engineering Trust is delighted to welcome visitors to the West Pickston Railway, Glenalmond, at our open day on May 27.

“Visitors will be made more than welcome to come and ride the miniature trains from 11.30am until 4pm.

“Visitors will be able to travel around the recently expanded and lengthened track, sit back and enjoy watching locomotives of all sizes pull passengers both young and old around the half mile track and see quarter scale traction engines and steam lorries in action.

“Visitors can see how the trust have created the railway and models and see other ways in which the trust is keeping Scotland’s proud engineering heritage alive for generations to enjoy and wonder at.

“Passengers can alight at our pond-side halt station, look at model boats, traction engines, steam lorries and marvel at the 16mm gauge outdoor railway.”

The railway can be found by turning onto College Road from the A85 opposite Methven Post Office.
