Boyfriend posted nasty Facebook messages after quarrel over cash
A factory worker sent almost a dozen Facebook messages, threatening to“destroy”and“ruin”his girlfriend after an argument over money.
But she contacted the police and it led to 26-year-old Marcin Sobala, of Old Mill Road, Rattray, being charged.
He appeared in the dock at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted sending the abusive and threatening communications to Oliwia Bartnikowska from his home on September 20 last year.
Depute fiscal Tina Dickie said they had been in a relationship for around a year.
She received 11 messages from the accused via Facebook. They were all in Polish but she had taken a screenshot of them and they had subsequently been translated.
In one, he said:“I am going to ruin you then, bitch.”
In another he branded her a“daft slut”while another stated:“I will destroy you.”
“The accused was traced by police and interviewed,”added the fiscal.
“He confirmed he had sent the threatening messages to her.”
Solicitor Pauline Cullerton said:“There had been a falling out between them in relation to money. The parties, however, have reconciled.”
Sobala, a first offender, had his sentence deferred until November 21 to show that his actions had been a“one-off.”He was also ordered to stay out of trouble for the next six months.
“I want to seek to ensure there is no repetition,” stated Sheriff Pino Di Emidio.
