Charging ahead after New York trip

-

A Perth product which keeps your phone charged on a night out has received a positive reception in NewYork.

Fair City pair Barry Leitham and John Ramsay recently took the Charge Doctor to the Big Apple to test the water and get a feel for the market.

And the product, a power bank which allows customers to charge their mobile device at the table of a venue, proved to be a success.

“When you go into a pub, every single person is on their phone,” Ramsay explained to the Perthshire Advertiser.

“This is portable power and stops bar staff from having to take phones behind the bar, and also customers from carrying a charger around.

“They charge any mobile phone from 2007 onwards and it has numerous tips on it. It can charge two phones at once.

“It was pretty special over in New York and was a massive confidence boost. The Americans loved it and hadn’t seen a concept like it.

“There’s a venue in New York every two steps so if one place has it, hopefully it will grow. It’s about getting the name out there.

“It’s not just about Scotland now, our brand is overseas, and that can only be good.”

British pub and restaurant the Dog and Bone, located near Times Square, has been using the Charge Doctor.

Owner Scott Robertson said: “The guys came over on a business trip and popped into my restaurant. I was instantly fascinated by the product.

“In this day and age people cannot be without their phone.

“The customers have had a very positive reaction to the product, especially as we have outdoor seating.

“They can enjoy their food and drink, charge their phone and relax.

“Our business has increased once people knew they can have lunch, charge their phone and head back out on to the busy streets of New York.”
