Perth-based Abby’s Beauty Secrets has beaten off competition from the rest of Scotland to win the Best Beauty Salon awards at the Scottish Business Awards 2018.

Salon owner Abby Gordon (26) won out over nation-wide competition and received her award with mum Sheila at the Glasgow Marriott hotel on Sunday, June 3.

Abby started her business straight out of college in 2014 at the young age of 23 and it has gone from strength to strength.

But although her business has been a great success, the award was unexpected.

She said: “It was great. I mean we were quite shocked when we were announced. Then we thought ‘okay’ and it was a kind of a deer caught in the headlights sort of thing.

“We hadn’t prepared a speech for it or anything. My mum was just as shocked as I was. But it was just brilliant.”

Abby lives in Craigie now but grew up in Perth and spoke of the importance of representing her local area.

She said: “It’s really important because Perth is a small area and I feel proud to represent where I’m from.”

Abby said she prides herself on the high standards and modern treatments that Abby’s Beauty Secrets have, always ensuring that their clients needs are at the heart of everything the business does.

“We do a bit of everything really which is great. We do a lot of brows.

“We have three floors and the top floor is open plan and you have great views all around while you’re getting treatment.

“We are hoping to continue to grow as a business in the future.

“We believe our salon is special to people because of our great customer service and high standard of treatment and cleanliness.

Abby’s Beauty Secrets was also nominated for the Best Permanent Make Up Salon of the Year award at the Scottish Beauty Industry Awards in Glasgow on Sunday.

The Perth salon missed out this time around but Abby said being nominated shows just how far Abby with proud mum Sheila

Abby’s Beauty Secrets has come.

“I am very proud of my team. All the girls work very hard every day to ensure the clients get the best treatments and service

possible so it’s so great they have got the recognition they deserve.

“I wanted to create a salon where everyone feels welcome. It’s a friendly, welcoming and cheery place.

“We understand beauty treatments can cause some anxiety to people so we put everyone at ease.”
