Mark Beaumont visits for cycling festival
A big weekend of cycling is lined up in Coupar Angus as part of the town’s fifth annual cycling festival.
The week-long celebration of all things cycling, organised by the Coupar Angus Cycling Hub, draws to a close with a packed programme of events over the weekend. It’s the fifth year of the festival and organisers say that the event is even bigger and better than on previous occasions.
A Coupar Angus favourite, the Cycle for Cake group, will be having a social cycle ride on Friday morning.
And on Friday evening at 7pm, former Blairgowrie High School pupil Mark Beaumont will officially open the new cycling hub premises on Forfar Road.
Mark will also be presenting a talk entitled‘Around the world and back to Coupar Angus’.
On Saturday, there will be an all-day free event in Larghan Park in the east Perthshire town.
From 10am until 5pm there will be a range of activities and entertainment including cycle races for all ages, performances from the Clan stunt team, an air bag, a skills track, obstacle courses, food stalls, a skate jam, a portable pump track, bike demonstrations, electric bikes and a bike sale.
There will also be music and, new for this year, a unicycle competition.
And the Ballo Enduro Bike Race takes place on Sunday, June 24.
Competitors will start and finish at Larghan Park and a bus will be laid on to take spectators from the park to Ballo.
