Church Morning worship and children’s club will begin in the church at 11am on Sunday and will be conducted by the Rev Douglas Main. The guild’s strawberry tea will take place in the village hall at 2pm on Wednesday, June 27.

Forteviot

Bowling club The numbers drawn in the lotto this week were 1, 6, 7 and 15. There was no winner and the rollover remains at £1000. The next draw will take place on Tuesday, June 26 at 7pm in the clubhouse.

Guildtown

Church Morning worship in St Martins Church on Sunday at 9.30am will be led by Mrs Anne Stewart. All members, friends and visitors will be made welcome and tea/coffee will be served at the close of this service. Sunday, July 1 will see a whole parish service for Scone and St Martins church at 10.45am in Scone New Church. Rev Dr Jim Simpson will lead this service to which all are welcome.

Kinclaven

Church The service last week was conducted by Rev Peggy EwartRober­ts. Readings from Mark chapter four, verses 26-34 and Two Corinthian­s chapter four, verses 3-6 were given by Bill Service and the organist was Janet Coyle. Caputh Church will hold a strawberry tea on Saturday, July 7, from 2pm to 4pm. Worship each Sunday is at 9.45am.

Kinross

Quiz night St Paul’s Scottish Episcopal Church will host a quiz night in the church meeting room tonight at 7.30pm. Entry costs £3 per person. This is a bring your own bottle event, with soft refreshmen­ts available. Donations will be welcomed. Loch Leven community library This year’s summer reading challenge begins in Loch Leven community library on Saturday. The theme of mischief makers is based on characters from the Beano comics. Children are asked to read six library books over the summer holidays and gather rewards along the way. Children who complete the challenge will be rewarded with a medal. The initiative is run in partnershi­p with Tesco, Bank of Scotland and the Reading Agency. Kinross farmers’ market The next market will take place in the High Street at the old town hall from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. All will be made welcome to come along to this event. Kinross and Ochil Walking Group The next trek will leave from the town on Sunday to Newport - a circular walk of nine miles. It is a fairly level walk on good tracks, footpaths and coastal path. From Tayport towards Newport, inland to Morton Loch, around the edge of Tentsmuir and back to the coast. Scores of activities, centred around the family-friendly festival at Comrie Croft, kept everyone busy.

The third Cream o’the Croft was billed as being“as chilled-out or as flat-out as you want it to be”and it certainly lived up to its billing for the 2000-plus visitors. On Friday as campers settled in talks, films, quad pods, coaching sessions and a silent disco got things off to a gentle start.

Rain poured down on Saturday afternoon but just added to the challenge of the hill race Enduro, which saw 209 competitor­s test their prowess on the Croft’s downhill sections.

Entertainm­ent at night came from top bands, including Colonel Mustard and The Dijon 5, and locals were Comrie’s Ruby, Callum and Jessie McDougall all had success in their respective Enduro races pleased to make use of the free shuttle buses to and from Crieff and Comrie.

A giant waterslide, Funky Mountain assault course, bouncy castle, story telling, crafts and pump track entertaine­d the kids.

The weather was kinder on Sunday for the junior Enduro and the adults were able to enjoy food from local producers while listening to excellent performanc­es from two Crieff High School bands.
