Carshadtoavoid “dizzy”driver
Other cars had to take evasive action to avoid a smash after a Perth motorist “drifted”onto the opposing carriageway on a country road.
Fifty-nine-year-old Marjorie McLeod, of Viewfield Place, also repeatedly clipped the verge and mounted the pavement before crashing into a fence and coming to a halt.
The cleaner, who was said to have “felt dizzy”after taking medication but continued to drive, was put off the road for 12 months at Perth Sheriff Court.
She was also fined a total of £450, payable at £50 a month.
She had been charged with dangerous driving on the A93 Perth-Kinclaven and Kinclaven-Stanley roads on August 17 last year.
But her not guilty plea to the lesser charge of driving carelessly - and erratically - was accepted by the prosecution.
She also admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney said another car was being driven behind the accused who was travelling at 25mph.
“She drifted onto the opposing carriageway and also clipped the verge at the side of the road.
“She then mounted the pavement with two wheels as she went round a corner, driving at slow speed, and collided with a fence, coming to a halt.”
The police were alerted after the occupants of the other car were of the view she was“unsteady on her feet and was slurring her words.”
Solicitor Billy Somerville said the effects of the medication were “short-lived”but she had continued to drive.
