Great results on and off the pitch
A successful charity football match played last Friday for young Kieran Thow, who suffers from cancer, was followed up by positive results this week.
The Perth Grammar School pupil (15) was diagnosed with cancer in March but had a positive week after £900 was donated.
Most of the money was raised through a raffle, many donated football shirts, a signed St Johnstone football and a World Cup football among other donations.
Father Graeme could not have been happier: “Yeah it was really, really good. To be honest I didn’t catch that much of it – so many people turned out – it was a little overwhelming.
“I just want to say a big thanks to everyone. The game was really competitive but really friendly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
The match ended 4-3 in Stanley Socca’s favour over Luncarty but that was not the only exciting result. After weeks of Kieran’s chemotherapy treatment tests have come back positive and his health has improved.
Now the family are looking forward.
Graeme said: “We were in Edinburgh yesterday for his MRI on Monday as he has finished his chemotherapy.
“We got the positive Keepers had their work cut out
£250 was donated by youngsters from Fair City Juniors and Soccer Tots results yesterday and went to Western General to learn about the radiotherapy.
“Now five weeks of radiotherapy is in front of us.
“It’s all good, it’s all positive – the chemotherapy did what we hoped it would so it’s an amazing result.
“Friday was good because it took your mind off what was happening on Monday and Tuesday because we were worried about that so it’s been all good.
“The idea was they wanted to do something for Kieran. It was the two managers from Luncarty and Stanley and their wives that pulled this together.
“The funds are for Kieran to do what he wants to do with it. Thank you to everyone that took part.” Stanley (in black) take on Luncarty Both teams get stuck in
