Ex-Saint to set new goal in Austria

The group flew to Munich on Thursday where they will stay for two nights before driving down to Austria for Sunday’s race.

Weir said he will face many challenges when he’s there but has great support with him.

“The race will be tough enough itself but looking after six drunk guys will be even harder. The guys are coming for a holiday but they’re coming to support me so I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully I get the race done and not let them down.

“I have one or two old football injuries that may concern me but I’m hoping to get through it.

“I done Bolton Ironman two years ago in July so I had a lot of problems after that one but I got myself fit again and decide I wanted to do another one.

“My time for Bolton two year ago was 11 hours 43 minutes so I’m hoping to improve on that.

“There are always different factors in each race.

“I booked out Austria last July because it sells out really quickly.

“The you know it’s just great that my brother and my son are coming to watch me with my best pals.

“I mean nothing beats being on the football park. But I just get buzz out of pushing myself and keeping fit.”
