UHI halls of residence available over summer

Perth Youth Hostel has reopened its doors to tourists for the summer months.

Hostelling Scotland has announced it is ready to welcome travellers back into its youth hostel at Perth College UHI’s halls of residence.

The youth hotel at the college’s Goodlyburn Campus will be able to offer good value and flexible accommodation to travellers who are wanting to explore the Fair City during the busy tourist season, and is expected to run until the college term starts again at the end of August.

A total of 65 beds will be made available at the Goodlyburn Campus halls, with varying accommodation types such as self-contained flats and en-suite rooms to suit individual travellers as well as couples, families and groups, with many of the facilities including self-catering kitchens, onsite laundry and free Wi-Fi access.

The website for Hostelling Scotland says: “Hosted in the modern residences of Perth College UHI and open from mid-June until the end of August, Perth Youth Hostel offers a choice of single and twin en-suite rooms or apartments, all with access to a self-catering kitchen, lounge area and balcony.

“There are four or five rooms in each unit, so groups and families can have exclusive use of the flats.

“Guests can also enjoy discounted access to the leisure facilities at Perth College UHI including a fully equipped gym and indoor climbing centre, just a stone’s throw from the youth hostel.

“The hostel is within easy access of the A9 or Perth city centre and, with ample on-site parking, Perth Youth Hostel is the ideal place to stay if you’re looking for a holiday, short break or stopover.”

This comes after the old youth hostel on Rosebank off the Glasgow Road shut down a number of years ago, leaving Perth without a permanent youth hostel.

A spokesperson for Perth College UHI said they are looking forward to welcoming people into their halls over the summer months.

They said: “Our relationship with Hostelling Scotland means our comfortable student accommodation is available in the summer to guests wishing to visit and explore this fantastic location.”

Margo Paterson, chief executive of Hostelling Scotland, said she is pleased to see their operation expanding into Perth, as well as in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

She said: “We are delighted to be in the position to offer our guests a wide range of high quality, affordable accommodation in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth in the busy summer months.

“Best price guarantee for these hostels can be found on our new website www.hostellingscotland. org.uk and can be booked at home or on the go with your tablet or mobile.”
