Perth group’s dash to Milnathort

Perth Road Runners made the short journey to show their support for the five-mile Milnathort Dash.

Thirty-six Fair City members competed in the latest race of the summer series and were greeted by humid running conditions.

Stuart Robertson was first for the club and third overall in 31:01, also securing himself first M40.

Not far behind was Kevin Rogers in 32:53 and Michael Souter in 33:27.

Lorraine MacPherson was first home for the ladies of the Perth club and second F40 in 39:33.

She was followed by Lisa Aikman in 40:41 and Arlene McWalter in 41:02. The three ladies also picked up the first female team prize.

Maria Dale was third F60 in 46:39 and Linda O’Neill was third F50 in 49:17.

Parkrun remains a popular fixture for the road runners with 44 members of the club attending one on Saturday.

Perth parkrun had the highest number of green vests as 39 ran their local 5km route.

Michael Carroll was first for the club and second overall in a time of 15:46. He was followed by Michael McConnell in 16:30 and Greg Simpson in 17:13.

For the ladies it was Lorraine MacPherson who was first home and fourth overall in 21:53.

She was followed by Lisa Aikman in 22:57 and Gillian Edwards in 23:01.

Ruchill parkrun saw Ronnie Glen finishing in 21:24, while Maria Dale ran Kirkcaldy parkrun in 26:06.

At Kirkwall parkrun, Peter Ritchie completed the 5km in 27:36 and, at Strathclyd­e parkrun, Kevin Rogers was third overall in 18:29 and Gillian Smith sixth female in 22:49.

Elsewhere, three road runners ran the 12km Heart of the Park in Braemar over the weekend.

The trail run included three river crossings, two swamps and took the runners through the woods and along the rivers in the blistering heat.

Stewart Dallas was first home for the club in 1:14:44, followed by David Stokoe in 1:31:13 and Stephanie Boyd in 1:45:44.

Sunday also saw another three from the club travel to Stonehaven for the Stonehaven Half Marathon.

Stuart Robertson was fifth overall and first V40 in 1:21:35, James Fotheringh­am clocked 1:32:53 and Sean Toole 1:39:43.

The club meets regularly on a Tuesday night at Bell’s Sports Centre for a club run leaving at 6.30pm sharp.

Thursday alternates between hill and track sessions. All are welcome.
