David Wotherspoon wants to build on his weekend goal against Aberdeen St Johnstone ................. 2 Aberdeen ...................... 2 Chris Millar couldn’t hold back the tears as he left the McDiarmid Park turf for a final time in a St Johnstone shirt.

The loyal midfielder’s testimonial match against Aberdeen brought the playing curtain down on an incredible 10 years with the club.

A First Division title, Scottish Cup win and numerous appearances in Europe were all included in a decade to remember.

Emotion took over at the full-time whistle on Sunday when 35-year-old Millar grabbed hold of the mic to address the Perth crowd and give his thanks.

He kicked the game off before striding into the action with 15 minutes remaining as proud family and friends watched on from the stand.

The exciting match finished 2-2 with David Wotherspoon and Greg Hurst on target for Tommy Wright’s men.

“When I started talking at the end I couldn’t help myself because so many memories come flooding back,” Millar explained to the PA.

“And all the people along the journey that have been there for you and supported you.

“Words can’t really describe it when you first walk out. You are overwhelmed, happy, emotional and see your family there.

“That is what you want to do. Make your family proud of you and leave something behind so people will remember you.

“I have done that here and I want to thank everyone involved with the club that has made it such a special time.”
