SWI Kilry SWI had a party to celebrate its 81st anniversar­y, with food supplied by the members. The speaker f was Gloria Mitchell, who told some stories and gave a talk on floral art. Church Last Sunday’s service was conducted by Rev Richard Campbell, and the organist was Pauline Dolby. The readings given by Audrey Awburn were from Proverbs chapter three, verses 1-6, and Mark chapter 10, verses 46-52. RSPB Loch Leven Celebrity television presenter and naturalist, Chris Packham, will be visiting Loch Leven this Saturday, July 14, on his way round 48 different nature sites across the country, as part of his TV series, Bioblitz. His estimated time of arrival will be between noon and 1pm. Members of the public will be welcome to go along from 10am to 1pm. Festival players This talented amateur dramatics group will be performing Shakespear­e’s The Winter’s Tale at Loch Leven at 7pm on Thursday, July 26. People are advised to take their own chairs, dress for the weather, sit back, relax and enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainm­ent. Kinross and Ochil Walking Group The group’s next trek will be to Lady Mary’s Walk and Laggan Hill, a distance of seven miles, on Sunday, July 22. It is a pleasant, gentle walk along a good path. Initially travelling along the riverside, with fine views of the countrysid­e. Thereafter, it will follow the ascent of Laggan Hill. Kinross Tennis Club The club are running a series of daily summer tennis camps starting on Monday, July 23 until Friday, July 27. The mini camp for children aged five to eight years runs daily between 9am to 10.30am; and costs £45 per week. A mini and juniors camp for kids aged eight to 16 will run at 10.30am to 1.30pm, at a cost of £90 per week. Sheepdog trials The annual Strathardl­e sheepdog trials will take place on Glenfernat­e Estate near Kirkmichae­l on Saturday, July 28, at noon. This will include a confined sheep shearing competitio­n. Competitor­s must run dogs to qualify. Refreshmen­ts will be available on the field. Entry is £1.50 for adults and 50p for children.

Luncarty

Church The service this Sunday will be held in Stanley village hall at 10am, and will be led by the Rev Adrian Lough. All welcome. Bowling Club Numbers in the lottery this week were 4, 5, 17 and 19. There was no winning line; prize money next week will be £2000.

Meigle

Country market Ardler, Kettins and Meigle Parish Church will be holding its annual country market on Saturday, July 21, from 10am to noon at Kinloch Memorial Hall in Meigle. The stalls will be offering locally-grown raspberrie­s, strawberri­es, broccoli, cauliflowe­r, a gift stall, home baking, jams, etc. There will also be a raffle and tombola. Teas and coffees with home baking will also be served.

Methven

Bowling club The numbers in the lotto draw this week were 2, 3, 13 and 19. There was no winner; next week’s prize money will now amout to £1320.

St Madoes

St Madoes and Kinfauns Parish Church Morning worship on Sunday starts at 10.30am in the Madoch Centre. The summer cafe on Tuesdays is from 1.30pm to 3pm at the Madoch Centre.
