Green businesses up for top awards

-

A number of environmentallyfriendly businesses in Perth and Kinross are up for awards.

Three businesses in the region are finalists for the VIBES Scottish Environment Business Awards, which recognise businesses’ commitment to tackling environmental challenges.

Peel Tech Ltd, Sidey Solutions Ltd and Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd have each made the cut for the awards, which will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at the Radisson Blu hotel in Glasgow.

Each of the three finalists were selected because of the way in which they implement best environmental practice in their day-to-day activity.

This could range from anything such as reducing their use of plastics, developing a new product, or encouraging employees to cycle to work or buy electric cars.

Bob Downes, head of the VIBES judging panel, said: “The awards are an excellent opportunity to recognise and reward these companies for going beyond ‘business as usual’ and driving sustainable growth through innovation. It’s very encouraging to see so many of Scotland’s businesses leading the way and making a difference which will not only support the environment but also protect their bottom line.

“I would like to congratulate each of this year’s finalists and wish them luck for November’s ceremony.”
