Community councilby-election

-

A by-election is set to be held for a Perth community council.

Perth and Kinross Council is now seeking nominations for those wanting to be elected to North Muirton Community Council.

Community council by-elections are held every four years for local residents to fill vacancies on committees.

A spokesperson for the local authority said:“Elections for community councils are held every four years.

“Between this time local residents can petition for an election to establish or re-establish a community council, and by-elections may be held to fill vacancies.

“If you care about the area you live in and want to make a difference, then get involved by standing for your local community council.”

A total of six new members are needed for North Muirton Community Council.

The by-election will be held on Thursday, September 6.

Those wanting to stand for election must be over the age of 16 and live within the community council boundaries for North Muirton.

They also need a proposer and a seconder from the area as well.

Residents who want to put themselves forward must complete a nomination form and a 50 word supporting statement to returning officer Gillian Taylor by 4pm on Thursday, August 9.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from www.pkc.gov.uk/ communitycouncils and can be handed into 2 High Street or communitycouncils@pkc.gov.uk
